Great location, walking distance from town, or a short tram ride…Unfortunately the spa was out of order, we assumed it would be in working order as it was advertised as a feature of the property when we booked. After speaking with another guest we found out that apparently it’s been broken for quite some time! (Many months)This is not an acceptable ruse, it does not take long to get these things either repaired or replaced & if not in working order then this should be made clear to those paying to stay before they book. We enjoyed the space in the balcony 1 bed unit we booked, it was clean, but be warned it’s a little worn and dated though, could do with a good proper patch & paint, and some new living room furniture. Reception staff always friendly & helpful.

We had a family room with two bedrooms. It had full kitchen facilities and a TV in the living area and both bedrooms. The location was great as we walked the Botanic Gardens and my daughter and sister attended a concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, which are both very close. There are lots of restaurants/cafes around the location and a few handy supermarkets as well. We also walked easily to Southbank and the city is close as well. I was able to park my car in the secure car park under the hotel for a reasonable nightly fee.

staff were absolutely lovely. we arrived later on in the evening after a long 11 hour drive. The man on the front desk was lovely and helped me with my bags. Staff the next morning were also very helpful gave us some tips on where to explore before our flight back to the UK. The room was fantastic and perfect for what we needed. swimming pool was great for the kids, the area around it is very tired and needs updating but to keep the kids entertained for an hour or so it was perfect and it was clean.

Continues to be the most curious hotel in Melbourne - was 5-star at one point, almost no maintenance for decades, now a recent set of renovations in some rooms that have cheapened the character but I guess are practical. I still feel like it is probably a money laundering scheme. The rooms are architecturally beautiful, the beds are comfy, there are cooking facilities, location is great for this area and the staff are generally good and helpful and it’s great value for money.

A haven of tranquillity and order. We love Melbourne but at the height of the Open and school hols, it gets a bit mad, and as an older couple we need a little quiet time. We had a second floor apartment, clean, quiet and well equipped so we could decompress after a busy day. The bed was comfortable on an epic scale! I want that bed! The is a good Woolworths Metro nearby for self-catering.
